Artists can be individualistic or not, have concerns, political or poetic and use sophisticated technologies or classical technique, may want to sell their work or produce intangible knowledge ... Anyway, in the course of their work will find common problems consideration deriving from the social, legal or work of their profession. That is, factors other than the creative process. Hence, in many different fields of creation and conceptual contexts, historical or geographical corporate social practices exist to safeguard and improve their professional status. Because the public articulation of a social demand is the only way to improve working conditions completed. So the association is not inconsistent with the value of individuality, is the contrary, an indispensable contribution to the free exercise of creative subjectivity.
An artist, his work-producing objects of value-generating services or performs an economic activity, which involves a series of rights and tax obligations, tax and social security. But often in the field of art, even among artists themselves, are not assumed conditions ignoring author and professional rights and obligations. The idea that the fulfillment of a vocation is reward enough, the hope that someday the market will reward the devotion and lack of training in legal and tax areas of the profession, tend to be the pillars on which rests a waiver determining general conditions of job insecurity.
This is usually the excuse of promoting the artist to refuse a payment which is not refusing any other professional. Some censorship works aside on an exhibition without the consent of the author or modified without permission to try to facilitate their possible sale. Often the absence of written contracts when an artist gets an assignment to do a job, assigns work to an exhibition or even reaches agreement to be represented by a gallery. But not only claim compensation for work performed (either by selling his work or payment for their services) or tax issues, labor, contract or law, are the target of AVVAC Visual Artists of Valencia, Alacant i Castelló. AVVAC also works for contemporary visual arts are in all levels of education, in supporting the processes of training, research and production or recognition of the right of artists, and art experts, participation in management culture.
Joan Verdú, criticizing artists' associations, said in this newspaper that, following the Marxist doctrine never point to a club that would admit to membership. In AVVAC appreciate the humor of Joan Verdú and would be glad to accept, following that logic, our card "honorary member" to be an honorary member of a club that is not interested.

Historical and future prospects of associative movement Crujera AICAV and Alfonso, Vice President UAAV
Introduction:
Cultural policies that change for the better and dealing with our balanced and professional mediators depends on the emergence and action of an organized movement. That's the dilemma: either we organize to improve or emigrated to other places where art and culture flourish. This is called brain drain is a drain on society. Cultural policy or dealing with the mediators are a human construction. And human constructions, unlike the divine or some forces of nature are subject to change. Be modified. That which in common with all successful social movements is the experience of emancipation, improvement, change the status quo. Artists can we take from these experiences. Organized, that is the second task of the artist. To organize a need to strengthen mutual trust in relations with colleagues, establish and expand the links, learn to work collectively towards a project to change the scenario in which we operate. Here are some recommendations that are the result of many years of experience in associations of visual artists. Read more

Remarks by John Genovese, taken from an interview published in No. 11 of the magazine Print and Publishing (Madrid) in November 2007. These words were spoken when discussing democracy came and had to rescue the Fine Arts in Madrid.
At the time, Javier Solana Socialist minister had drawn a plan to take over the Circle and give it to the artists. This Javier Solana called on the artists of the Association of Madrid, who organized an event to meet new partners, attended by three thousand people. That night there were three thousand members and took the Fine Arts for artists. There is no doubt that from that day to this Circle is a landmark for culture in our country.
These are the words of Genoese:
Artists do not know the strength we can have if we unite, one does nothing but together can be terrible. He says he never tires of saying, neither do we.

AVA Castile and Leon
This association of artists need arises as a collective group in Castile-Leon appears completely unstructured and, although in our Community Associations is discredited, largely by Manichaeism, manipulation and even corruption which often blur our society, it is also true that many artists believe that our profession needs to be focused, to agree on your needs, choose the picture where you want to express themselves and sit on the board of managers of cultural policies and be heard.
When a group is associated is more likely to send their proposals, a partnership can join forces, skills and become more operational.
The main goal of AVA Castilla y Leon today is to become mediators between the institutions of contemporary art and art producers, artists, taking the views of its members and partners in the sense that cultural policy in our community have to go budgets allowing for participation and professionalism that, at this point, are inescapable.
The AVA speech poses to the institutions is always the same: Manual of Good Practice in the visual arts professionals, professionalization of the sector in our community, involvement of artists in projects, adequacy of cultural policies to the needs of our community taking into account their reality.
Castile and Leon AVA proposes ways and means to enhance the field of artistic production, teaching and outreach, and is well aware that any approach is made regarding the achievement of its objectives should be agreed and participant work together from all sectors of contemporary art.
It is necessary therefore, discuss and engage institutions, directors of art centers, associations of dealers, critics, curators, educators and teachers, all in a common front to promote a dialogue with the political and institutional representatives.
AVA believes that the policies surrounding the contemporary art of our region have unequal treatment, not a course in many cases, and lack of fluid connections and consistent with other areas, so that artists of Castile and Leon have been deprived In most cases, access to the visibility and support for its work and initiatives.
Dialogue and not confrontation is essential to establish the bonds that we weave. In the spirit of AVA, its board and its members and partners, is the likely way flow of communication joining forces with other Associations in the field of culture and contemporary art.
AVA, in just over two years, has conducted a series of performances in several directions:
interviews with institutional officials, administrations, and leaders of cultural and artistic areas, to disseminate the Manual of Good Practice Professionals in the visual arts and recommendations for the public call for aid, grants, awards and grants,
has organized conferences about intellectual property, the professionalization of artistic activity and the use of Web 2.0 environments and artistic associations,
is negotiating with the Board, the University of Valladolid, and other institutions conducting a study on the state of contemporary art in Castile and Leon AVA considered essential for realistic projection of cultural policies and appropriate to the specific needs of each sector,
conducts outreach activities in its priority and the Union of Visual Artists Association, which is federated with which works to achieve these,
try to get a membership base sufficient for the project equip depth, strength and credibility to negotiate.
Raise awareness among governments, as the Castilla and Leon, municipalities and provincial political groups, universities, financial institutions and other sectors related to art and culture, which generates AVA initiatives proposed urgent changes and defends the rights of its artists, is a task that will take even longer.
Our territory, extent of dispersion, the existing inertia are difficulties that slow task but already generated relations in this regard.
AVA's eyes are open and listening. In this conference, its workshops and its discussions of the contributions of all, you can extract the data and proposals to rework his speech to the institutions, will create opportunities for the negotiation of the initiatives and the needs of artists in short will continue to work with one of the goals contained in its statutes: the promotion of contemporary art.
Generate visibility is constantly working all you can accuse the boards that have occurred since the establishment of AVA in December 2007 and partners and actively collaborating partner.
Javier Redondo.
